The 35-year-old, who joined the Serie A outfit from Spanish club Valencia last summer, scored twice in 20 league appearances last season, AS Roma finished runners-up to champions Juventus.
He has expressed delights about his new one-year deal, saying he feels “loved” at the Stadio Olimpico.
“I rejected some huge offers because the club and the fans here have always shown me so much love and respect. I’m at a very important stage of my career and I’m happy to sign on with Roma.
“It’s true that money is important but at my age love and respect are important too. We’re starting out on a season and I hope it’s better than last year, both on a personal level and for the club,” the Mali international is quoted as saying on the club’s website. Keita has been capped 102 times at international level, scoring 25 goals since making his debut 15 years ago.
