The Turkish coast guard rescued a 10-month-old girl who drifted more than half a mile out to sea in a flotation device, the BBC reported.
On Friday, winds pushed Melda Ilgin far out into the Aegean Sea, off the western coast of Turkey, without her parents’ noticing, The Telegraph reported.
Beachgoers unsuccessfully tried reaching the girl before the rescue boat arrived, The Guardian reported.
A video posted to YouTube shows a man from the coast guard swimming toward the child as she bobs in a yellow float. An ABC News photo shows Melda wrapped in a towel on shore as her mother offers her water.
