Oh No! Single Ladies – When 7 Women Say To One Man “Let Us All Marry You”

slim and fat
Isaiah 4:1 In that day so few men will be left that seven women will fight for each man, saying, “Let us all marry you! We will provide our own food and clothing. Only let us take your name so we won’t be mocked as old maids.”

So how many ‘single-ripe-for-marriage ladies’ have had the above tossed in their faces? If you are a lady in between 27- 35 and unmarried and you still haven’t heard someone coin this line mockingly at you, then it’s either you have an incredible circle of family and friends, or you have no family and/or friends in which case you need to step out into the light.
Your friends encourage you to overlook his piss poor attitude because “guys are scarce out there, plenty women are waiting to grab him if you let him go… hold on to what you have”.
Relatives tell you to overlook many things, because you are not growing any younger and you the ratio of man to woman is like 1:7.
Call me traditional, call me delusional, call me feminist. I believe if a man does not recognize you to be the PRICE and as such strive to get and keep you, respect you, love you, protect you and treat you well, you are in for a long long journey of pain, heart ache, tears, more tears, and a lot of regrets.
I heard a story recently of a couple, both police officers, the husband beats the wife at the least provocation, when I say least I mean she gets a black eye from receiving calls from her family if he is not in the mood for her to use her own mobile phone. She married a virgin (good girl) and during their courtship stage she saw some red flags, she mentioned them in passing, but guess what? she was at the age were peers would probably have been saying: “…seven women will fight for each man, saying, “Let us all marry you! We will provide our own food and clothing. Only let us take your name so we won’t be mocked as old maids.”
Now she’s the one being whipped with that heavy mobile police belt. She’s the one who is now a shadow of herself, she’s the one stuck in a marriage of endless tears and if she’s not careful she’s the one whose goals will be truncated and I am very sure the response her friends and family have is ‘Eeyya‘. And this is just one story!
This happens everyday! everywhere! The stories we hear, the ones we don’t hear. Heartaches and dirtiness in marriages, women and men cheating on each other because they are either stupid, or need to prove a point to each other, or plain unhappy and so need to turn to others.
I know some people readily jump into marriage like Ugo CHIME pointed out because they lack their own personal goals in life and on earth and as such need to let the world know they can at least get married. In such a situation I cannot even say anything. If you can’t be of use in anything including being of use to yourself, you might as well get married so you can stop constituting a nuisance to your family. So anything you see in marriage take it in good faith.
However for the others who are constantly worried about their biological clock ticking, or worried that perhaps we are at the times where seven women will beg one peasant for marriage, I am the voice in the wilderness (of Lagos) here to bring you this good news: GOD WAS NOT REFERRING TO YOU…at least not to you all in Nigeria. Let me show you, read back to Isaiah 3 from verse 16 to the end then enter chapter 4… the passages referred to women in Jerusalem. That is very far from Nigeria… at least that’s how I choose to see it.
Love yourself in your single state and be happy! If you cannot be happy single, you will not be happy when that man comes along. Be happy as you are and shut off those voices helping you count the eggs your ovaries are letting out each month. Those friends and relatives won’t join you in that marriage, as a matter of fact they will be the one to abuse you if you end up making the wrong choice in your haste. You will suffer the consequences and your kind friends will say ‘Eeyya’
Marriage can be a beautiful thing, I know alot of couples who enjoy their marriage, it’s not pretense, you see it. Husband and wife who love and fear God and each other lovingly, supporting each other and surpassing the challenges hand in hand! Your life partner might just be the reason you fulfil your destiny or NOT. It is called MARRIAGE but most people have entered into MANAGE
While you wait for that Prince Charming whose head is correct, be busy doing something with your life, make something of yourself…make money, make a difference, be a solution, become something good… because truth is I wouldn’t marry you if your only future ambition is to be a Wife.
