Sorry, Not Sorry: 15 Things Women Should No Longer Apologize For

Beautiful blackwoman
I feel like women are always saying sorry. It feels like every single thing we do or say we somehow feel obligated to apologize for. Every single sentence and action needs to be followed by an “I’m sorry.”

We say we’re sorry because we feel like we have to. We say we’re sorry because we‘re women. We say we’re sorry when we didn’t even do anything that warrants an apology.
We should never have to apologize for being normal human beings. We should never say we’re sorry when we demand to be treated like equals.
Enough with saying “I’m sorry.” You’re not sorry. We’re not sorry.
Here are 15 things women should no longer have to apologize for:
1. Being successful.
Women should never have to #humblebrag for being successful in their careers. We should be able to straight BRAG about our achievements.
If you got the raise, post it all over social media. If you won the account, celebrate! A successful woman is a fabulous thing, you have no reason to say you’re sorry for the benefit of the insecure people around you.
2. Showing our emotions.
We shouldn’t have to fear being called “crazy” just because we have emotions.
We should embrace that we have the power to show how we feel and wear our hearts on our sleeves. We shouldn’t sit in the corner trying to pretend to be the “cool girl” just to make a guy like us.
3. Cutting out fake people.
We shouldn’t have to hang out with people who are constantly ditching us. If you can’t give us the respect to show up on time and stick to our plans, then we shouldn’t have to make those plans with you anymore.
We should never say sorry for cutting toxic people out of our lives.
4. Not dressing “sexy” enough or for being “too sexy.”
We should be allowed to unapologetically wear whatever we damn feel like.
If I want to wear a crop top to work, I am going to wear a crop top. If I want to wear boy’s distressed jeans and a T-shirt to brunch, I will.
Your outfit choices are yours and yours alone.
5. Standing up for our beliefs.
If we believe in something, we shouldn’t be fearful of standing up for those beliefs. We have the right to stand tall and fight for what we want.
There is no need to apologize for feeling passionate about something. Use your voice, and use it loud.
6. The size of our waistlines.
And our cup size for that matter. Beautiful women come in all shapes and sizes.
If you’re curvy, you’re beautiful; if you’re skinny, you’re beautiful. It doesn’t matter what you look like. You are beautiful!
7. Staying in to binge watch your favorite show instead of going out for shots…
or…
8. Going out for shots instead binge watching your favorite show.
We can do whatever we want!
9. Buying the expensive purse when we’re broke.
We work hard for our paychecks, and sometimes we want to treat ourselves. It’s our money, and it isn’t your business how we spend it.
I’m tired of making excuses for the way I choose to live my life! If I want something fancy, I’m getting something fancy.
10. Skipping the vacation to Mexico with our friends for a vacation at home with family.
Sometimes we just want to go home and see our families instead of spending an ungodly amount to go to Cancun. There is no place like home, and that is where we want to be.
11. Wearing makeup.
If makeup makes you feel beautiful, wear it. If you don’t want to wear makeup, don’t. Either way, it is up to us to decide whether we’re going to paint our faces or go au naturale.
It’s about what makes us feel most comfortable — not you.
12. Our pasts.
Whatever mistakes we made or didn’t make; they do not define us. All too often, us ladies find ourselves apologizing for the past.
Never say you are sorry for what has happened. It’s what helped make you the beautiful, amazing woman you are today — scars and all.
13. Being authentic.
We’re not going to pretend to be anything other than our amazing, interesting, wildly funny selves. Being unique is nothing to hide, it’s something to embrace and hold with pride.
Being authentic makes you the most interesting person in the room. Adore it and embrace it!
14. Always putting ourselves first.
We are number one. The relationship you have with yourself is the most important, most long-lasting relationship you will ever have.
Do not ever think you are obligated to put someone else’s needs before your own. We are strong, independent women, and we deserve to treat ourselves like goddesses.
15. Making more money than our boyfriends.
Sorry, not sorry. We’re boss babes, and we know it *Flips Hair*.
